[0.0s] Previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [2.4s] You are standing at the gate to the temple of Tiamat. [5.8s] I mean we might want to hop on that giant owl and just fly up to that window we saw [9.4s] earlier. [10.4s] Guys, I see a person down there, like one of the sacrifices. [14.3s] I mean they might have a way in for us. [16.2s] What's your name? [17.2s] Merv. [18.2s] I was trying to make my way to a tunnel that we've been led to before on the [22.4s] other side of this caldera here. [24.5s] There is a long stretch, a long corridor that you follow with no other turns and it [30.2s] ends with a door in the ceiling. [34.5s] You see across the way Red Wizard standing looking up as the one in front of you [41.7s] is. [42.7s] Yes, I'm going to take my shot. [44.6s] Because he did not see this coming, his head falls to the ground. [49.9s] In the blink of an eye, Thea runs up and she disappears and is immediately on the [58.5s] other side. [59.6s] This is a wizard you haven't seen since you were aboard the frost giant's floating [66.3s] fortress. [68.0s] This wizard is Wrath Modar. [71.6s] I'm going to cast Hail of Thorns, it's a bonus action. [75.3s] As the arrow passes this shimmering globe and springs to action 10 feet in front of him [84.1s] but is shattered and disperses as the arrow continues to go through and hit him in the [89.6s] shoulder. [90.6s] Oh, it's maybe like a little anti-magic shield. [92.9s] You are too, mate. [95.9s] Tiamat will destroy you soon. [101.6s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons, we're a D&D 5th edition actual play podcast and I am your [105.8s] dungeon master Russ More and with me today is Carla Johnson. [111.2s] Did you just say Rush More? [112.7s] Oh, he so did. [113.7s] It's a really good movie. [115.0s] I love Wes Anderson, he's great. [117.2s] It's a really fun movie so I can see why you would want to be Rush More. [120.8s] Yeah, if you're going for a Sean Connery kind of thing, I'm Rush More. [125.2s] Anyway, sorry, sorry, Russ. [128.2s] No, that's fine. [129.2s] I didn't realize I said it. [130.3s] I play New Laura Moonbrook. [132.3s] And Amy More. [133.3s] I wasn't going to say anything and I play Thea Anastasia. [138.4s] And Tom Laird. [139.4s] I really like Jason Schwartzman in Rush More, he's delightful. [142.6s] Me too, he's great. [143.6s] Well, yeah, he's delightful in general. [145.3s] I've never actually seen Rush More. [147.1s] What? [148.1s] You need to watch that movie, Russ. [149.2s] And I play Flint Firebeard. [150.7s] Is that the one where she puts her hands in her armpits or is that a different [153.9s] one? [154.9s] That's Superstar. [155.9s] Wow, that is radically different. [156.9s] Yeah, very different. [158.6s] This doesn't sound like a very good movie. [160.6s] That's the one I'm thinking of. [161.6s] It wasn't a very good movie. [162.6s] Sorry, Molly Shannon, but mm-mm. [164.6s] No, haven't seen Rush More. [166.3s] So my homework for next week. [229.4s] And if you want to become a patron, come join us over on Patreon. [232.8s] That's all I got. [234.3s] So fuck it. [235.3s] Let's play D&D. [236.3s] A boulder flies through the air released by a dwarven trebuchet. [247.5s] The wine of the falling stone rings out as it lands in the midst of cult mercenaries [252.6s] and ravenous devils, a sickening mix of blood, bone and dirt fly up into the air. [262.3s] We see Elven Bladesingers weightlessly moving through the crowds as if dancing across the [268.5s] water, clearing the way, pressing further towards the Well of Dragons. [274.6s] In behind them, we see Lady Leral Silverhand atop a hippogriff. [279.5s] At her side, Dagult Neverember and Delaine Winterhound skim above the mass of soldiers, [285.3s] Their eyes set on the glowing spire at the center of Tiamat's temple. [293.0s] Inside the caldera, we see the crashed floating iceberg of a palace. [300.9s] Dragons and frost giants battle, multiple dragons coming down, picking up the frost [307.3s] giants and throwing them hundreds of feet. [311.4s] Frost giants throw their clubs and ice boulders up at these dragons, bringing them down and [317.3s] beating them into the ground. [320.3s] As we watch this battle, slowly the palace begins to vibrate and move. [325.8s] It is broken into several pieces, but the largest of those pieces begins to lift [331.5s] off the ground, making its way towards the temple. [336.7s] Inside, Flint and Nularaaaa are charging toward Wrathmodar, the leader of the exiled red wizards. [343.5s] Thea, her back to the giant bard entrance to the temple, squaring off against a wizard, [349.3s] when suddenly, there is a crash. [354.4s] Thea, make a dexterity saving throw, please. [358.8s] Oh no, you're straight off the fucking bat, I'm going to use one of my lucks. [367.7s] I really rolled a 19. [371.9s] Hearing the explosion, Thea looks up and sees Rubble falling towards her. [378.4s] From each of the spires, you look and you see coming down and around the wizards [385.3s] and Thea dive out of the way just in time, Rubble fall to the ground right where she was standing. [392.6s] You look up and you see, 50 feet above you, red wizards casting the ritual to rise to [401.1s] the mat, floating in each of the spires. [405.9s] High above the center, the floor falls out and falls to the ground by Flint and Nularaaaa. [412.9s] You look up and you see suspended in the center of the energy, a floating figure, 100 feet [419.8s] above you, adorned with a terrifying and magnificent five-color dragon mask. [426.0s] The booming voice you heard before emanates again. [430.1s] Decimators of dragons, how nice to see you again. [434.9s] After all this time, sadly it will be the last as we near the final steps in [440.3s] bringing our queen to this world. [443.1s] High Severin Silveration will be inconvenienced no longer by your putrid attempts to halt [449.7s] this ritual. [451.5s] Severin rejoins the chant as the five colors begin to grow stronger and you feel a shift [457.3s] in the very earth itself. [464.1s] We're back to the top of the order, so you... [466.6s] What was the order? [467.6s] Nularaaaa is up first. [474.6s] Okay. [477.6s] So to set the scene, you are about 40 feet from Rath Modar who you have seen has a [483.3s] globe around him preventing any magics you presume from hitting him. [488.9s] Flint is beside you as is Donnie and Thea is engaged in battle with a wizard down [496.9s] the spire with the blue energy. [498.9s] Not getting crushed by rocks. [500.9s] You now know that there are five other wizards up atop these spires. [506.9s] The only way you can presume to get up to them is by flying and Severin is directly [512.9s] above you. [515.9s] Choices. [516.9s] Okay, well, the thing is, just one person so I can only deal with one thing. [524.9s] So can Donnie go first instead of me or does he have to go after me? [530.9s] God, I don't see why not. [531.9s] We've never done it that way, but I mean, I see no reason why you couldn't. [535.9s] You could just... [536.9s] Yeah, I think he just goes on my turn, right? [537.9s] Mechanically, we would just say Nularaaaa delays her actions until Donnie takes his [541.9s] turn, so... [543.9s] Well, that's what I'm gonna do. [545.9s] Do whatever you want. [546.9s] Because Donnie, last time, had recharged his fire breath. [550.9s] Yep. [551.9s] He wants to try and fire breath Rath Modar. [553.9s] Beautiful. [554.9s] He's gonna take his movement and then he is going to do his fire breath. [558.9s] So that is a dex save. [561.9s] Dexterity saving throw. [563.9s] That's a 22. [566.9s] Geez, he's dexterous as fuck. [568.9s] But that's okay. [569.9s] He still takes half damage. [573.9s] So 20, so 10 fire damage. [576.9s] Okay. [577.9s] I am going to use my fleet of foot as a bonus action to dash and then also [582.9s] make my movement so that I can get over to him. [585.9s] Because luckily, magic damage doesn't work and I don't really do great at [589.9s] magic anyway, so let's just try and sword this motherfucker. [592.9s] There you go. [593.9s] Right? [594.9s] I am going to swing Dragon Slayer at Rath Modar. [599.9s] And that is a 27. [602.9s] Doesn't hit. [603.9s] Fuck, guys, we're so fucked. [605.9s] Well, we're done. [606.9s] That's just one of the wizards, guys. [609.9s] Definitely hits. [611.9s] Okay. [612.9s] So that is 12 piercing or slashing or whatever and then 6 magic. [618.9s] So I guess maybe magic probably doesn't work. [620.9s] So it's 12 and 6, 18? [622.9s] Yes. [623.9s] Donnie's fire breath hits the duplicate mirror image. [627.9s] Duplicate vaporizes. [629.9s] Nularaaaa runs forward, hitting the only left-standing Rath Modar with her sword. [635.9s] And then that second verse is going to be the same as the first. [638.9s] It's going to be a little bit louder. [640.9s] 25. [642.9s] Yes. [643.9s] And that is a 12 and 6, so 18. [649.9s] Again. [650.9s] Very consistent. [651.9s] Different combo, though. [652.9s] Different numbers. [653.9s] Oh, wow. [654.9s] It's a cool 36 points of damage. [656.9s] Yeah. [657.9s] Yeah, worked out pretty good. [658.9s] I'm so much better with a weapon up close than trying to do spells on people in [664.9s] bubbles because I forget they're in bubbles because I don't even pay attention to [667.9s] the magic anymore. [668.9s] Never do it. [669.9s] Guys, we need to pay attention to magic. [671.9s] I know. [672.9s] It's true. [673.9s] I've been saying this all along. [674.9s] It's true. [675.9s] Thea is great at paying attention to magic. [676.9s] All right. [677.9s] Let's go. [678.9s] Thea, you're up. [679.9s] Okay. [680.9s] I am. [681.9s] Okay. [682.9s] Sorry, I didn't quite understand your description of the red wizards that are [686.9s] up. [687.9s] Is it on a ledge? [688.9s] They're essentially directly above where the current wizards are. [691.9s] Oh, okay. [692.9s] And I will review. [693.9s] Oh, this is a giant up column, right? [695.9s] Yep. [696.9s] Okay, cool. [697.9s] Cool, cool, cool, cool. [698.9s] Okay. [699.9s] I'm not into these Call to the Dragon people, but like you got to admit their [703.9s] ceremonies look pretty dope. [704.9s] Yeah, they got some style. [705.9s] Yeah. [706.9s] They do. [707.9s] So I guess what I'm going to do, I'm going to Eldritch Blast because it can [714.9s] go 120 feet. [715.9s] I'm going to Eldritch Blast the asshole above me, main dude. [719.9s] Okay. [720.9s] What's the name again? [721.9s] Main dude? [722.9s] Well, you got to move then because you're currently within the spire, which [726.9s] mean you mean you're further than 150 feet away from him. [729.9s] Like you, you know, Pythagorean theorem, because he's a hundred feet above [734.9s] here. [735.9s] You're another 300 feet over there. [737.9s] Never mind. [738.9s] I'll Eldritch Blast this bitch in front of me. [741.9s] Okay. [742.9s] Let's do that instead, because there's no way my hundred feet is going to [747.9s] move. [748.9s] Okay. [749.9s] 21, 22. [752.9s] Yep. [753.9s] The other one is 16. [755.9s] Yep. [756.9s] Oh, 12. [759.9s] 12 does not hit. [761.9s] Yeah. [762.9s] All right. [763.9s] 2D10s. [764.9s] So that's 15 damage altogether. [767.9s] Force damage. [769.9s] With the sustaining damage he took from before, the Eldritch Blast come [773.9s] forward and hit him directly in the chest and throw him against the wall [779.9s] and he falls dead to the ground. [781.9s] I yell over, guys, I killed one of them. [784.9s] Can we air five? [785.9s] Oh, 100%. [786.9s] Absolutely. [787.9s] Can I take a movement after I do an action? [789.9s] Can I move after? [790.9s] Absolutely. [791.9s] I'd like to just move my however far that I can, which is 30 feet [798.9s] closer to the middle of the spire. [800.9s] Severin is up next and he continues the ritual to bring Tiamat forward. [807.9s] Wrath Modar is next. [810.9s] This guy. [811.9s] This guy, right? [812.9s] This fucking guy. [813.9s] This guy. [814.9s] He smiles at you, Nulara. [817.9s] That's never good. [818.9s] No, it's never great. [821.9s] He moves his hands through the air and mutters a evil-sounding thing [828.9s] under his breath that you don't quite understand. [831.9s] But you must make a wisdom saving throw. [837.9s] Okay. [840.9s] Pla two, Virata, Nick two, et cetera, et cetera. [844.9s] Something, something, something, dark side. [846.9s] Yeah. [847.9s] That is a 10. [849.9s] 10? [850.9s] Okay, great. [851.9s] At the start of your turns for the duration, which is up to one minute, [859.9s] you must roll a D10. [861.9s] You have succumbed to the Confusion spell and Wrath gets to strike out [867.9s] and swing at you with his quarter staff as well. [869.9s] That's going to be a 19 to hit. [872.9s] Yeah, that'll do it. [874.9s] Is your armor still juiced or is it run out now? [877.9s] The armor is, like, always good. [881.9s] It's just the no damage only lasts for 10 minutes, [884.9s] but it still will be half on non-magic. [886.9s] Okay. [887.9s] So you're going to take seven bludgeoning damage. [890.9s] So three. [892.9s] Whatever. [895.9s] Some more wizard's turns and they continue to cast the ritual around you. [901.9s] And Flint, you are next. [903.9s] How far away from Wrath am I? [905.9s] About 40 feet again? [906.9s] 30 feet? [907.9s] Approximately. [908.9s] Yeah, approximately 30. [909.9s] I guess I will have to dash then, [912.9s] because I can only technically move 25 feet. [915.9s] So as you get to him. [917.9s] I go the long way around Nulara. [919.9s] Okay. [922.9s] Yeah, no, that's fine. [923.9s] I mean, if I got this extra movement, I might as well use it, right? [926.9s] Might as well just kind of run around them. [928.9s] Just a couple circles. [929.9s] Right. [930.9s] Well, it would make sense to fight them on either side of him, right? [933.9s] Not at the same place that he's being fought with the other person. [937.9s] You don't want to stand in a nice line [939.9s] so that he can hit you both with a spell at the same time. [941.9s] Yeah, like how ninjas fight in movies is it's always one at a time [945.9s] and then even though they're surrounded by other guys. [948.9s] Everyone waits their turn. [949.9s] All right. [950.9s] So I'm going to use my Moistung Longsword [952.9s] and take a swing at Mr. Rathmodar. [958.9s] That is a 19. [960.9s] Yes, you strike out at him [964.9s] and swing into him and he disappears. [970.9s] And he's behind you by 30 feet. [973.9s] Seems like a fun parlor game he's playing. [977.9s] All right. [978.9s] I will throw my Dwarven Hammer at him. [981.9s] My Dwarven Thrower, sorry. [983.9s] It's the exact name for it. [985.9s] So it's a 21. [987.9s] Yes. [989.9s] All right. [991.9s] That's 14 damage. [993.9s] You strike him square in the chest [995.9s] and he must make a save for concentration, which he does. [1001.9s] And he gets knocked back by about 10 feet. [1008.9s] More wizards continue the ritual to bring Tiamat into the material plane. [1015.9s] And we're back to the top. [1017.9s] And it is Nularaaa's turn. [1018.9s] Roll a D10, please. [1020.9s] I was hoping it'd be longer until it was my turn so you might forget it. [1023.9s] Everybody's just very one single mind going on right now. [1027.9s] Yes. [1028.9s] It's a seven. [1029.9s] A seven. [1030.9s] Seven to eight. [1031.9s] The creature uses its action to make a melee attack [1033.9s] against a randomly determined creature within its reach. [1036.9s] If there is no creature within its reach, the creature does nothing this turn. [1039.9s] So that would be either Donnie or Flint. [1042.9s] So you will be rolling. [1045.9s] I hope it's me. [1046.9s] Let's say Flint is evens. [1048.9s] Donnie is odds. [1049.9s] Do you want to roll a D6 or something or do you want me to? [1052.9s] I can do it. [1053.9s] That's a four. [1055.9s] It's me. [1056.9s] I mean, you can take it more, so I'm kind of glad it's you. [1060.9s] Also, you get to choose your weapon, though, don't you? [1063.9s] Well, she means she's got the sword in her hand. [1065.9s] I mean, she would make the attack as if she was attacking anything. [1068.9s] Yeah. [1069.9s] And you guys are never going to trust me. [1071.9s] I'm constantly attacking you guys. [1073.9s] Oh, well, maybe I'm not because that's a 12. [1076.9s] Oh, yeah, that's not going to do it. [1078.9s] So you strike out, not really knowing what you're doing. [1082.9s] You strike out and you hit Flint in the back and get full armor. [1086.9s] I kind of turn around and give her like a what? [1089.9s] Does she look like she's confused at all? [1091.9s] Can I see anything different? [1092.9s] Oh, yeah, she's definitely confused. [1094.9s] All right. [1096.9s] OK, so that is my is that my first attack or this is a separate thing? [1101.9s] I think you tend at the start of its turn determines its behavior for that turn. [1104.9s] That's all you can do. [1106.9s] Oh, yeah, because if you roll something different, you can act normally. [1110.9s] Yeah, if you roll nine to ten, you can act normally. [1112.9s] OK, so I don't even get my other attack. [1115.9s] Nope. [1116.9s] Sweet F.A. OK. [1118.9s] So you've got to make a wisdom saving throw again. [1123.9s] Nine, you are still confused. [1125.9s] Perfect. Did you roll a D20 or did you roll the D10 again? [1129.9s] Yeah, I did roll a D10. [1132.9s] Wasn't I supposed to roll the D10? [1133.9s] No, D20. Sorry. [1135.9s] Roll a D20. Otherwise, that was an excellent roll. [1137.9s] That was an excellent roll. [1139.9s] Oh, well, this one wasn't. [1142.9s] It's a four. Oh, still confused. [1145.9s] It's still confused. [1147.9s] She's playing D&D how she plays D&D. [1151.9s] That's fact. [1153.9s] Story checks out. [1154.9s] OK, so where is Mr. Rathmodar now? [1159.9s] He is 40 feet ahead or 40 feet beyond where Flint is. [1165.9s] OK, well, assuming Donnie is still like with me, then he would be able to approach and then try to. [1172.9s] Well, first he'll try and recharge. [1175.9s] That's him trying to recharge, which he does. [1177.9s] Yay. Awesome. [1179.9s] So he will do another fire breath. [1183.9s] So that needs to be a dex save. [1186.9s] That's an 18. [1188.9s] Well, that will this Rath is he's been doing gymnastics or something. [1193.9s] He is very, very. [1198.9s] So that's 20, so 10, which I think is what happened last time. [1202.9s] His robes alight as he just misses the brunt of Donnie's flame. [1209.9s] And he eyes up Donnie for hitting him once more. [1214.9s] He's not looking great, though. [1215.9s] Thea, you're up. [1217.9s] God. [1221.9s] What are you doing? [1222.9s] What's that list that you're in? [1223.9s] None of your business. [1225.9s] Geez. [1227.9s] It's like appendix of animals. [1230.9s] I'm trying to make a good choice. [1234.9s] It's not going to happen this turn. [1237.9s] So I'm curious what's going to happen next. [1241.9s] I know me too. [1242.9s] I don't know. [1245.9s] But I am going to conjure animals. [1250.9s] I want to conjure eight Pteranodons. [1254.9s] Yeah, you do. [1257.9s] OK, tell me what it looks like when you cast this spell. [1260.9s] I kind of like crouched down on the ground and I have my hands on the earth and I'm trying to pull as much energy as I can from the earth around me. [1269.9s] And I just I raise my hands up into the air and I say. [1274.9s] Yeah. [1275.9s] And from from nothing, these eight Pteranodons come forth. [1283.9s] So as I see it, you're pulling energy from the world and wisps of this begin to form and you hear the cause or roars of these Pteranodons. [1295.9s] And you see Wrath look towards you and he raises his hand and he says, not today. [1302.9s] And they poof out of existence. [1305.9s] I'm going to fucking gut punch that motherfucking son of a god. [1310.9s] I scream. [1313.9s] And with that yell, I yell in my mind, but also kind of out like Glock. [1320.9s] And, you know, guacamole is going to come up through the tunnel and she start to make her way. [1324.9s] Climbing up the ladder. [1325.9s] Yeah. [1326.9s] Four rails. [1327.9s] Probably just like hopping up the rungs. [1329.9s] Just like, yeah. [1330.9s] Like how birds do on their little ladders and cages. [1332.9s] It's very cute. [1333.9s] So she's going to she's going to come up and fly her max distance, which is fly 60 feet. [1342.9s] The chants of the ritual begin resonating as the as the energy begins lifting the earth from the ground at the center. [1353.9s] You see stone begin to heave up in the center of this temple. [1358.9s] As the colors begin to get clearer and spin wildly. [1364.9s] It is Rath's turn. [1366.9s] He looks towards Flint and New Laura. [1371.9s] And you see from within his hands a ball of glowing fire begin to form. [1380.9s] He throws from his hands a bright streak of fire in a 20 foot radius sphere that encompasses you. [1391.9s] Well, Donnie as well. [1393.9s] You each must make a dexterity saving throw. [1397.9s] Donnie is immune to fire damage. [1400.9s] Well, then he doesn't, but he can still make it. [1405.9s] I got a 17. [1407.9s] I got a 17 and I'm also going to add my rabbit's foot into this bad boy. [1414.9s] So that's now a 19. [1416.9s] You both save. [1418.9s] However, you take half of this fire damage. [1422.9s] Cool. [1423.9s] Which is 8d6. [1426.9s] I think you read that wrong. [1428.9s] So you take half of 30. [1430.9s] So you take 15 fire damage. [1433.9s] And he begins to step closer to the center of the room. [1441.9s] The ritual continues to grow as Flint's turn comes. [1447.9s] All right. [1448.9s] He's how far away from me now? [1450.9s] It looks like he is about 40 feet. [1453.9s] I would like to once again throw my Dwarven Thrower. [1458.9s] Okay. [1459.9s] And I would like to since it knocked him backwards last time, [1462.9s] I'd like to throw it past him and maybe get him on the rebound this time [1466.9s] and maybe knock him closer to me. [1468.9s] Okay. [1469.9s] If that's an option. [1470.9s] Sure. [1471.9s] Maybe it depends on how good I roll. [1473.9s] Could be. [1475.9s] That's pretty good. [1476.9s] That's a 28. [1478.9s] So you whip it past him and he thinks you missed and looks towards you [1483.9s] and catches it in the back and takes. [1487.9s] I will roll. [1488.9s] Hang on. [1490.9s] Six and five is 11 damage. [1493.9s] You see the wind get knocked out of him. [1495.9s] He gets wide eyed as he flies towards you almost on this hammer. [1501.9s] Nularaaaa, your clarity comes back as he comes so close to you [1506.9s] that you see the life leave his eyes as he falls to the ground. [1513.9s] Thea is legit clapping from the other side of the cavern. [1516.9s] Just like, bravo, sir. [1517.9s] He was a dick indeed. [1519.9s] Yes, he was. [1521.9s] The one that's 50 feet above me then should be relatively directly overhead. [1526.9s] Yeah, you'd have to move. [1528.9s] You'd have to move a little bit, but more or less. [1530.9s] Okay. [1531.9s] Well, I'll move a little bit so that I'm directly under [1533.9s] just because my range of my weapon is not much more than 50 feet. [1537.9s] So I would like to be as close as possible. [1539.9s] Sure. [1540.9s] And I'll continue to throw that Dwarven Thrower up there [1543.9s] because you got to do something about this ritual. [1546.9s] Yeah, right? [1547.9s] The bowling for red wizards. [1549.9s] Yes! [1550.9s] Awesome. [1551.9s] You got it. [1552.9s] Okay. [1553.9s] Seven on the first one and another seven is 14 plus five is 19 points of damage. [1561.9s] You hit this wizard hard [1563.9s] and he loses concentration not only in the ritual [1567.9s] but on this flying ability that he has and he begins to fall down towards you. [1575.9s] Can I just like stand under him with my sword raised? [1578.9s] Sure. [1580.9s] He throws a hammer with one hand and then takes out a sword and just waits. [1584.9s] You're waiting as he falls. [1586.9s] He turns and he sees this coming as he impales onto the sword, [1590.9s] knocking it from your hand and falling to the ground, [1594.9s] dead, blood splattered on the floor. [1598.9s] Your sword now impaled deep within this wizard. [1602.9s] It's fair. [1603.9s] Gross but awesome. [1604.9s] Right? [1606.9s] You know what, I miss gross but awesome, you guys. [1608.9s] Can that be, I guess that can be your movement, [1610.9s] is like getting the sword out of the guy. [1612.9s] Oh, yeah. [1613.9s] Is that, can I use my last action to get the sword out of the dude? [1616.9s] Yep. [1617.9s] Perfect. [1618.9s] You're like, eww. [1619.9s] But it's a moist sword so it comes out quite easily. [1622.9s] There's a lot of, it's just a, as it comes. [1625.9s] Yeah, it does. [1627.9s] Yeah, it does. [1629.9s] You notice the walls begin to shake. [1634.9s] As you hear a crashing thunderous sound break through the wall in front of you, [1641.9s] Flint, about 20 feet up the wall, [1646.9s] it seems like it's torn and falls in towards you. [1650.9s] Make a dexterity saving throw. [1652.9s] Alright. [1655.9s] That is a 15. [1658.9s] You dive out of the way, getting hit by small shrapnel and debris, [1663.9s] and you take six bludgeoning damage. [1666.9s] I'm gonna take three bludgeoning damage then. [1669.9s] You look, Nulara and Flint, you can see as the giant fortress moves past the building, [1678.9s] you see it's like an iceberg moving past when you're on a ship, [1682.9s] and from the outside you see three hippogriffs zip by. [1687.9s] Nulara has like a flash of her, all she wants to like be back. [1691.9s] Her best day ever. [1692.9s] Yeah, like back riding that hippogriff and maybe like when this is all over, [1697.9s] we can, you know, she can get back there. [1701.9s] Is there like a bat signal that we can shine through that hole in the wall to like call people to help? [1707.9s] I think they know. [1709.9s] I think they know. [1711.9s] The building begins to vibrate as the color begins to grow in intensity. [1719.9s] Nulara, it's your turn. [1721.9s] Okay, I'm gonna cast Conjure Barrage. [1725.9s] Okay. [1726.9s] And then I'm going to fire at the floating dude. [1732.9s] How far is he? [1733.9s] The big bad floating dude. [1734.9s] The big bad in the middle. [1735.9s] He's a hundred feet up from the center. [1739.9s] So if you want to be directly below him, you've got to get into the color. [1743.9s] No, I don't want to be below him. [1744.9s] So you're probably more like a hundred and thirty, a hundred and forty feet up. [1749.9s] So I am going to cast Conjure Barrage and then I am going to fire my crossbow at him. [1756.9s] Okay. [1762.9s] Is that a good reaction? [1763.9s] No, it was just a like flail throw. [1765.9s] It's a 24. [1768.9s] Yeah, 24 will hit. [1770.9s] So he will take the 1d8 from the real arrow. [1778.9s] Okay. [1779.9s] And then more arrows were conjured. [1782.9s] So he will also take an additional three more d8s. [1787.9s] 16 plus one, 17. [1790.9s] Your arrow flies up and through this ritual being cast and it impales in his shoulder and you hear a booming. [1800.9s] So these arrows hit into his chest and side and he looks down and turns his attention to you with your next turn. [1810.9s] As a bonus action, I am going to vanish, which I can do. [1817.9s] Okay. [1818.9s] Okay. [1819.9s] Bonus action, I can hide. [1822.9s] Okay. [1823.9s] So I can't move, but he can't or maybe I can move. [1825.9s] It doesn't say can't be tracked by non magical means unless I choose to be. [1830.9s] I don't think that makes you invisible. [1831.9s] No, that doesn't make you invisible. [1833.9s] But it makes me. [1834.9s] That means you got to go hide somewhere. [1836.9s] Like what is it? [1837.9s] What's the skill? [1838.9s] Yeah. [1839.9s] Hide. [1840.9s] Vanish. [1841.9s] Oh, vanish. [1842.9s] Vanish. [1843.9s] No, it's hide. [1844.9s] Hide is hide. [1845.9s] It's called hide and see. [1846.9s] Bonus action on your turn to hide. [1848.9s] Fuck, but there's nothing close enough for me to hide behind, is there? [1851.9s] Yeah, like closest is like the rubble in each of the, either right in the center, which is kind of being swirled up or in each of the spires. [1858.9s] Yeah, the center seems like a risky choice. [1860.9s] Seems real dangerous. [1861.9s] Yeah. [1862.9s] I'm going to leave that one up to you, but yeah. [1865.9s] So yeah, I mean, how I picture that one working is like there's things around you that you can just choose to. [1870.9s] Work better in a forest or something. [1871.9s] Yeah, if you were in the trees or something, it would be real helpful. [1873.9s] You're in an open chamber, really. [1875.9s] Damn it. [1876.9s] Sorry. [1877.9s] That's okay. [1878.9s] I wanted to work for you. [1879.9s] Nope, that's okay. [1880.9s] I wanted to work for me, too, because I remembered that I can do it, but that's fine. [1884.9s] Okay, that's fine. [1886.9s] Donnie is blessed with the gift of flight. [1890.9s] Got blessed. [1891.9s] Yeah. [1892.9s] Great. Donnie's recharge is fire breath. [1893.9s] And we're going to start making our way around the glowing center towards Thea. [1899.9s] Okay. [1901.9s] I guess, sure, because we're closer to that. [1903.9s] So the white guy's the next enemy to fight, right? [1906.9s] That way. [1907.9s] Sure. [1908.9s] Got it. [1909.9s] The chamber begins to resonate. [1911.9s] You sense a smile on Severin's face. [1915.9s] He fires down at Nulara. [1917.9s] You see coming towards you a glowing, flaming orb. [1922.9s] That is a 10 to hit. [1925.9s] That will not work. [1927.9s] Coming right over top of your head, hitting the wall behind you, an enormous eruption of [1932.9s] fire hits the wall, narrowly missing you. [1937.9s] And he begins to float down as the earth begins to heave even more. [1944.9s] And cracks begin to form as Flint's turn. [1948.9s] So he's still like 70 feet. [1950.9s] Do I not have a turn? [1951.9s] Did you not get a turn? [1952.9s] I haven't had a fucking turn in goddamn forever, and I didn't want to be that [1956.9s] player like, did my turn yet? [1958.9s] Sorry, your turn. [1959.9s] Yeah, your turn. [1960.9s] Thank God. [1961.9s] Sorry. [1962.9s] I had stuff I wanted to do. [1964.9s] Listen, I have a plan. [1965.9s] Okay. [1966.9s] Do your plan. [1967.9s] Okay. [1968.9s] You said there are hippogriffs flying through here now, yes? [1970.9s] No, not flying through. [1971.9s] They zipped past the outside. [1972.9s] You didn't see them either. [1973.9s] Oh fuckers. [1974.9s] That ruined my plan only a little bit. [1977.9s] Okay. [1978.9s] So here's what I'm going to do. [1980.9s] How far away am I from Severin? [1984.9s] He's 70 feet straight up from the center. [1987.9s] So you're probably like, I don't know, 100 feet away from him up. [1991.9s] 100 feet up? [1993.9s] Yeah. [1994.9s] Okay. [1995.9s] Good. [1996.9s] What I'm going to do is I'm going to jump. [1999.9s] I'm just kidding. [2004.9s] If I move this way 30 feet first, that's squares. [2012.9s] So you're moving straight into the center of the heaving ground and churning lights. [2017.9s] Only a little bit. [2018.9s] Like there. [2019.9s] Right on the edge of it. [2021.9s] Yeah. [2022.9s] So now he's like 80 feet ahead of me? [2024.9s] Sure. [2025.9s] Okay. [2026.9s] I want to cast confusion on him because someone gave me acorns to do so. [2031.9s] Do it. [2032.9s] Okay. [2033.9s] I cast confusion. [2034.9s] He is going to need to have a wisdom saving throw. [2039.9s] That is a 20. [2041.9s] Okay. [2042.9s] Well, he can just go fuck himself. [2046.9s] Okay. [2047.9s] Guac flies 60 feet, but she's going to go around. [2052.9s] To the right or to the left? [2053.9s] She's going to go to the right. [2054.9s] 60 feet? [2055.9s] 60 feet. [2056.9s] Got it. [2057.9s] Nothing if my stuff works. [2060.9s] Get a little downtrodden. [2061.9s] Flynn, it's your turn. [2063.9s] I'm going to take my dash action to kind of end up where Rathmodar's dead body is on the map. [2070.9s] You got it? [2073.9s] Yeah. [2074.9s] I guess just I'll kind of keep moving along outside the middle, but that's about it. [2084.9s] A few things happen now. [2089.9s] The ground cracks open. [2092.9s] Light and fire begin to pour into the room. [2099.9s] At that moment, you hear a call of a dragon stick its head through the open wall, a giant red dragon. [2112.9s] But instantly before he releases his flame breath, it has a pained look and roar. [2120.9s] As he pulls back out and you see Lady Leral Silverhand, Lord Neverember, and Delaine firing everything they have at him to try and keep him off. [2132.9s] And in an instant, you see three glowing golden globes land at your feet. [2140.9s] They explode. [2142.9s] And an energy washes over top of you. [2145.9s] As you regain 70 hit points each and all of your spell slots, as the earth begins to shake and you hear a sickening roar. [2161.9s] And Severn yells, the time is now. [2166.9s] As the snout of the largest dragon you've ever seen starts to come into the chamber. [2174.9s] Light and fire pour into the temple of Tiamat. [2178.9s] You see the red snout followed by the green and the black and the white and the blue pour in. [2186.9s] Tiamat is here. [2189.9s] Your world has already ended. [2204.9s] Welcome to the end part, because I'm not going to put this in the middle. [2222.9s] It's going to be at the end. [2224.9s] Wow, what a departure from our normal. [2226.9s] Well, you know, we're getting down to it. [2228.9s] So I don't want the chance of any mentions or spoilsies to ruin a potential episode. [2236.9s] That's good call, because I never remember anything and I probably just say it offhandedly and ruin it totally. [2242.9s] So this is a good idea. [2243.9s] Yeah. [2244.9s] And this way, because it's at the end, we can say a big thank you to our single line Tiamat at the end of this episode, Sean Howard. [2251.9s] Thanks, Sean. [2253.9s] Our friendship is not at all altered by you playing this terrible character. [2257.9s] Yeah, well, I mean, it was just he just he just came on and said hello. [2262.9s] And that's the last we'll hear from him. [2264.9s] Yeah, right. [2265.9s] Probably. [2266.9s] But you can check Sean out. [2268.9s] He's going to be in next week's episode. [2270.9s] Maybe listen to that and then go check him out in the end of time and other bothers and Alba Salick. [2274.9s] So link his information down in the description. [2278.9s] He's also in the Facebook group. [2280.9s] But somebody else take over. [2282.9s] The Reckless Play Guild. [2284.9s] He's a gosh dang delight. [2286.9s] And you'll probably remember Sean from one of our live episodes when we were at PodCon. [2292.9s] He played one morning with us and was a delight. [2295.9s] Super delight. [2296.9s] And if that's how I like any word to describe Sean would be just delightful. [2301.9s] Delightful. [2302.9s] That man is delightful. [2304.9s] Yep. [2305.9s] Hey, we've got a Patreon special offer going on. [2307.9s] We want you to come join us over on Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [2311.9s] Join us. [2314.9s] Join us. [2399.9s] We call a thing. [2400.9s] That's not what I mean. [2401.9s] Once like a year ago, kind of stock and I say we keep calling it that. [2406.9s] But in case you're wondering what the heck a gook hang is, we go on Google Hangouts and you can come and you can talk to us. [2413.9s] And we mostly like talk about we just nonsense, just a lot of nonsense. [2419.9s] But it's very fun. [2420.9s] It is. [2434.9s] And that's OK. [2435.9s] We love you so much anyway. [2437.9s] But maybe if you wouldn't mind doing us like a little pity favor, we'd really appreciate it if you could write a review or rate us. [2444.9s] That'd be really nice. [2446.9s] Some great people have already done that. [2449.9s] This one was let me face up on Facebook by one David Ginsburg. [2454.9s] He gave us five stars and he says one of my top five D&D actual play podcasts. [2459.9s] The crew of Dumbgeons and Dragons brings it every time. [2462.9s] And I am so excited to be a listener and a fan. [2464.9s] They're great to talk with. [2465.9s] And I enjoy getting to hear their continued adventures. [2468.9s] Thanks, David. Thank you. [2470.9s] Also, SpaceKey66 on Apple podcasts rated us five stars and said, I've binge listened to you guys for a month and a half and I'm almost caught up. [2481.9s] I've used some of your ideas in my own campaign and I'm thoroughly entertained by the debauchery that goes down. [2486.9s] You're doing the forgetfulness is hilarious. [2489.9s] I think you guys should start a podcast called Saving Private Thea. [2493.9s] Unintended. [2498.9s] Thank you, SpaceKey. [2500.9s] I agree with everything you said. [2502.9s] The forgetting is hilarious, right, Russ? [2504.9s] Oh, yeah, absolutely. [2506.9s] And just like on brand, totally done on purpose. [2511.9s] Everybody loves it. [2512.9s] Yeah. [2513.9s] When you guys don't remember what's going on. [2515.9s] Or the stuff we have or who we've talked to or what we've talked about. [2518.9s] All of that stuff. [2520.9s] This review is from Facebook from Zoe Mahoney. [2524.9s] I just found this podcast a few days ago, but I'm already on episode 12. [2527.9s] I seriously find this podcast super hilarious. [2530.9s] It's perfect for listening to on my car drives and for when I'm working on projects.
